Founder Story
I’m JR, the founder of APR Commissioning, an independent HVAC commissioning specialist based in Auckland. I’ve been working in the HVAC industry for over 20 years, with the last 15 focused specifically on commissioning: testing, balancing, and making sure systems perform the way they were designed to, not just installed.
Over that time I’ve worked across a wide range of projects, including schools, office buildings, commercial developments, and data centres, along with commissioning work on New Zealand Defence Force sites, including Whenuapai Air Base, Devonport Naval Base, and Papakura Army Camp.
I started APR to do what too few commissioning providers manage: combine cost-effective pricing with complete documentation, delivered by someone who’s actually on site.
As APR grows, that hands-on standard doesn’t change. Whether it’s me on site or a future team member, every project gets the same direct involvement, straightforward communication, and commitment to getting systems working properly — not just installed.
I work directly with site teams to help deliver smooth project handovers, resolve issues quickly, and make sure systems perform reliably once buildings are occupied. Most of my work starts through connections with main contractors — but it’s the experience and results that keep clients coming back for the next project
